Fear and rage flashed across his dark face as the crystal exploded....how...why? That was all there was time for. His body was lifted from the ground and thrown by the force of the explosion....tiny shards of crystalline death sliced his skin and pierced him to his heart. It was an odd sensation...flying through the air as and staring in awe struck wonderment at the beauty of the exploding sapphire...then of course there was that whole problem of having all those pieces of crystal enter his body. They felt cold...like shards of ice. They pulsed too..
He slammed into the museums walls...nocking over two Large Jaguar head statues and piercing his thigh just above the knee. He tried to stand but found that nearly impossible...so he sat...his blood pooling from a thousand tiny wounds...and his leg feeding him the 'i don't feel like working right now' vibe. The crystal shards began to move within his flesh...congregating it seemed in the new wound and in his heart....as the pain overwhelmed him and his vision began to fade....his marred and battered face cracked into a smile...his blood stained teeth and broken lips making a mockery of human joy. Inside the broken warriors mind played the cadence of a life time...'When I get to heaven...st. Peters gonna say...young man howed you earn your living...young man how'ld you earn your pay.' The wry smile on his face was for the second verse however....yeah...the second verse...then...there was black.

J.C. shook his head violently before re-focusing his attention on the two friends talking. Suddenly it was very hard to concentrate on any one thing at a time and his eyes started wandering again. He glanced everywhere but his eyes kept going back to the stone. Stupid thing. Now why did he think that?
Whatever. He glanced at his friend and cocked his head to the side. "Earth to Torr," the Latino said, swiping a hand in front of the guy's face. No response, go figure. He smirked and shook his head, glancing at the blue stone Torr was so avidly staring at then giving a shrug to the other two in a half apologetic way. He waved for them to continue.

((Ah, friggity-frack. The headvoices for this went silent on me, so go ahead. Maybe they'll wake up after the crystal going boom (ironic, yes?).))

The triumphant paean of victory that Torr believed he'd been hearing began to slow down. The key changed and he began to shiver as a somber melody began to haunt him. The music was also becoming evident to the others surrounding the crystal. The pulsing slowed and he finally pulled his eyes away from it. Suddenly a shadow formed over the crystal and two sillhoutted figures could be seen in a struggle on top of the skylight. Torrence squinted his eyes a little and backed up.
The music was suddenly back in full force, and the crystal began to pulse again as a smattering of shattered glass fell around it. The gem was now pulsing violently, and as the remaining skylight shattered and the two figures fell towards the massive crystal, it exploded in a shower of blue light and crystal shards. The shards flew through and into Torrence's body. His head fell roughly against the marble floors and he was out within seconds.

J.C. half listened to the two worker's tell their story, but really his mind wasn't focusing on it. Before the Latino knew what hit him the crystal exploded and he didn't even have time to flinch before the shards flew out in all directions. He didn't have time to feel any sort of pain either, as he fell to the ground and passed out.
